Reading Practice and Assessment Book

The Step Up to the TAKS Practice & Assessment Reading Book provides practice with passages the same length and level of difficulty as the passages on the TAKS test. Each passage is followed with nine to twelve questions and is also followed by a teaching element.

The correct answers are linked with evidence in the passage to focus the student on how evidence is connected to an answer. The Exercise Reasoning pages explain why wrong answers are wrong and right answers are right regarding questions requiring an understanding of the whole story to determine the inferred answers.

The Locating Evidence pages address the ability to match evidence and the correct answer choice as seen in the TAKS test.

Since you will find very few answer choices which are stated as the evidence is stated, in the passage, a majority of the TAKS answer choices must be formulated by collecting evidence.
